The Project
East Dallas Community Schools run a fantastic Montessori program for children. They needed a video to help promote their effort and garner interest in their schools. Kids are usually at their most interesting when they don’t know they are being watched. This is why I took a candid approach when filming the children’s interactions with each other and their environment.
Shooting on location during a typical school day, I used a low-profile camera setup and telephoto lenses to allow beautiful moments to play out without the children’s attention being drawn to me or the camera. The results were candid moments of learning caught from a distance. These moments encompass what is special about East Dallas Community Schools: seeing children happily learning.
